On 05/11/2018, the Archdiocese of Hanoi issued Statement No. VP2018 / 11CQ signed by Their Excellencies, Cardinal Peter Nguyen Van Nhon, Archbishop of Hanoi and Bishop Auxiliary Lorenzo Chu Van Minh on behalf of the priests and parishioners of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, sent to the Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi authorities to strongly oppose Hanoi authorities’ arbitrary appropriation of the land and property that belong to the Archbishopric of Hanoi.
The document stated that Ha Noi authorities had initiated construction at 29 Nha Chung Street on the land that is owned by the Archbishop of Hanoi, which was certified with Title No. 1794, Volume 9, Page 191.
This has been where Dung Lac School of the Archdiocese of Hanoi stood.
To this day, the Archdiocese of Hanoi has never produced any documents indicating her intention to donate, give or transfer the right to use this land and property to anyone.
The construction has been carried out in secret since the project was gotten underway without any notice, blue print and other statutory information required for carrying out such project.
In particular, this is the property that belongs to the Hanoi Archbishopric which has been arbitrarily used as a school and now arbitrarily re-constructed the facility in some project that the Archbishopric has never been neither informed nor approved, the people are unaware.
Even more intriguing is the fact that in order to start this project, the Hanoi authorities have deliberately blocked all entrance and pathways, brought machinery into the location as if this is an uninhabited location.
